This trick can make cleaning your extractor hood the easiest thing in the world
Cleaning your extractor hood is not a fun chore at all, let alone cleaning the oily, dusty filter. It sounds so simple but if you want to decently clean that thing, you need the patience of a saint. A talent not everyone has. Luckily, cleaning the filter becomes a whole lot easier with the help of a bit of coke!
Coke isn’t just a tasty drink; it’s also a miracle product!
Coke
Even though most of us will see coke or cola mostly as a drink, it’s useful for a lot of other things as well. In fact, you can clean many different things with this product. You can use it to descale your tea kettle or to clean the toilet, for example. Apparently, the popular beverage is so chemical that it can clean things. Who knew? You can also use it to remove chewing gum from your (or your children’s) hair. Fill a bowl with coke and put the piece of hair with the chewing gum in it. Let this sit for a while and you’ll see how easy it is to remove the gum.
Wash your hair
Did you know that washing your hair with coke has some great benefits as well? We can’t tell you if this truly works as well as some of the claims make it out to, but this trick is definitely worth a try if you want more voluminous hair. The cola is said to cause your hair to be less limp and to create a ‘messy’ structure – but in a good way. The high acidity level of cola causes the hair scales to close and contract. This makes your hair shine. Sounds pretty good, right?
Panacea
Coke can clean a lot of stuff. You can use the caffeinated drink to clean the sink, remove gum and to make jewellery shiny again. Coke can remove grease stains as well. Furthermore, the drink works perfectly when cleaning the filter of your extractor hood.
How does it work?
Remove the filter from your extractor hood and put it in a deep baking tray. Pour coke over the filter and make sure it is completely submerged. Leave the filter to sit in the coke for 20 minutes. Afterwards, scrub the filter with a rough brush. If all went well, you can now easily scrub all the dirt of the filter. Finally, rinse off the filter with lukewarm water and Bob’s your uncle!
